General Information:
I am the original owner of this awesome 2002 Subaru WRX. I unfortunately have to sell the car because I am going back to grad school full-time and will not be able to afford the loan payments. I have made many upgrades to the car (see Upgrade Specifications below), have taken excellent care of the car, and have the records to prove it!!
Stock Specifications:
- 2.0 liter boxer engine rated at stock 227 HP
- Sports suspension and tires
- 6-CD in-dash changer (no need to go to the trunk!)
- Fully functional hood scoop feeds intercooler
- 5-Speed manual transmission
- Spoiler
Upgrade Specifications:
- K&N intake and air filter system
- Stromung exhaust system. This is a top-of-the-line, high-end exhaust system with piping. It has a very rumbly sound, almost like a V-8 Mustang. Best of all, I got the twin-pipe exhaust to keep a fairly stock look. This is a very classy setup. You can see what the exhaust looks like at http://www.stromung.com/subaru/subaru3.htm and http://www.stromung.com/subaru/subaru4.htm (except that my setup has no black parts; I bought the full stainless steel upgrade).
- Short-throw shifter. This shifter reduces the shifting distance by about 30% over stock. It really enhances the driving experience.
- Window tinting. The back and rear doors are relatively dark, while the front doors are medium tint. I got the best window-tinting I could find. I still have the receipts and the lifetime warranty card.
- Subaru extended elbow rest. I bought this to make the driving position more natural and to add an additional storage compartment inside the cabin..
When adding upgrades to this WRX, the goal was to do only upgrades would keep the stock feel (except for engine power) and look intact. This was not intended to be a race car and has never been put in stressed conditions.
Other:
- I have receipts for services (oil changes, etc.) performed on the car, as well as for all of the upgrades. Where applicable, I also have the warranty cards for the upgrades.
- While I have upgraded the intake and exhaust system and love this setup, I have kept the stock parts in case you want to swap everything back . The original parts are virtually brand-new and I am throwing them in for free.
- All upgrades to the car, except for the window-tinting, were installed by Irvine Subaru's performance shop. No fly-by-night operations here!! The window tinting was installed by a custom window tint shop in Mission Viejo.
- The car's exterior has two minor flaws. There is a 1-inch scratch on the hood that was caused by a rock from a truck on the freeway. There is also a 2/5-inch hole in the front bumper that was caused by my hitting a screw in a post. I have included pictures of both of these on this website. While these are fairly minor flaws, I have reduced the selling price by $1000 in case the buyer wishes to have them removed.
Care:
- All regular maintenance performed. Oil changes were done every 3000 miles (sometimes more frequently), and I have retained my service records.
- Based on a recall notice, I replaced the entire clutch. The old clutch was actually fine, but when someone offers a brand new expensive replacement part, you take it!! The new clutch was just installed at 35,000 miles. It's brand new!!
Price:
The selling price is $17,500.
If you check AutoTrader.com, you will see that other buyers are selling the same car with similar mileage and fewer upgrades for considerably more.
I am pricing this car under market.
Buyers:
This WRX was very well taken care of by a mature and responsible car owner. Based on the value I am offering, I am expecting that it will go fairly quickly. PLEASE, no tire-kickers. The car has been priced so that it will sell quickly before I start school, but I must insist that if you are just pricing the market, please do so elsewhere. I would only like to meet with serious buyers.
